So Long, Silvagni
Fremantle delist injury-plagued defender
Fremantle have delisted defender Alex Silvagni after seven seasons and 53 games with the club.
Originally from the Casey Scorpions in the VFL, Silvagni was a mature-age recruit in 2010 rookie draft.
A series of injuries restricted Silvagni to just 14 games in the past three seasons.
Collingwood are reportedly interested in picking up the 29-year-old as a delisted free agent.
Dockers football manager Chris Bond said Silvagni was a quality person held in high regard by the club.
“Alex came to the club via the rookie list and worked really hard to get elevated to the primary list and play a fair bit of senior footy in his debut season,” Bond said.
“Unfortunately, opportunities for Alex to secure a regular spot in the senior side in subsequent seasons were hampered by injury.
“Throughout that time though, Alex always displayed the many fine attributes that make him the quality person he is, and saw him held in the highest regard by everyone at Fremantle.
“We thank Alex for the contribution he made to the club both on and off the field, and wish him all the best in his future endeavours.”
