Southern Stars gun Meg Lanning has gone huge in their one day match against South Africa at Manuka Oval in Canberra today.

Lanning came in at 1/19 in the sixth over and proceeded to dominate, racking up 134 off 122 balls before going out caught and bowled by Ayabonga Khaka.

Skipper Lanning hit 20 boundaries in her innings, and was well supported by Ellyse Perry who fell short of a ton of her own, making 95*.

Lanning’s ton takes her ODI average to a remarkable 50.7 at a strike rate of 96.71.

It was the 24-year-old’s ninth century to go with the nine fifties she’s made — all in just 51 innings.

The ton sites nicely in a purple patch that Lanning’s going through; it was her third century in the last eight ODI innings.

She averages 63.6 in the one day game this calendar year.

Lanning and Perry put on 224 for the third wicket on the way to taking Southern Stars to an imposing total of 4/278.

In reply South Africa are currently 3/56 in the 19th over with play suspended for a rain delay.
