In some player signing news, the Sydney Roosters has reportedly picked up handy Parramatta halfback Mitch Cornish.

Channel Seven rugby league reporter Josh Massoud reported: “And some positive news for Sydney Roosters... Signing former Raiders and Eels half Mitch Cornish.”

It's believed coach Trent Robinson will use the 23-year-old halfback as a handy back-up to the experienced halves combo of Mitchell Pearce and Luke Keary.

Cornish has only played 15 NRL games, since making his NRL debut in 2014 with Canberra.

In 2013 he played in the NSW Under 20s team, and capped it off winning a spot in the 2013 NYC Team of the Year. However, his time at Parramatta last season was restricted because of injury.
