Coach Mal Meninga has named his possible replacements for the injured Sam Thaiday ahead of Australia’s massive Four Nations final against New Zealand at Anfield.

Test match rookies Shannon Boyd (Raiders) and Jake Trbojevic (Sea Eagles) are in line to replace the veteran Kangaroos and Queensland forward after he suffered a fractured eye socket during Australia's 38-16 win at the London Stadium early on Monday (AEDT).

“He is a big character around the team and a big player in our team. But he’ll come back and we look forward to having him around,” said Meninga of Sam Thaiday, on The Daily Telegraph.

“Shannon and Jake are our forward reserves at the moment so we’ll make a decision over the next 24 hours.”
