After a successful Four Nations campaign the Kangaroos will be returning home as world champs.
However, NRL stars Jason Taumalolo and Valentine Holmes have flown to the USA for trials with NFL teams, reports The Daily Telegraph.
It’s understood the pair who have just finished their Four Nations campaign in England, left for the US today, boarding an airplane at Heathrow Airport in London.
“The reigning Dally M Medallist [Jason Taumalolo] is taking the first step to his NFL dream by flying to America to undergo the same battery of tests that saw Jarryd Hayne signed by the San Francisco 49ers,” reports The Daily Telegraph.
One of Australia's top gridiron coaches told The Daily Telegraph that the 23-year-old Taumalolo still has time to learn the game.
“He is a massive unit, he would be a great tight-end or linebacker and in defensive lines he would smash blokes," said Paul Shepherd.
It’s understood the pair are going over to “test their wares” in one of the world’s toughest sporting competitions.
North Queensland forward Jason Taumalolo (alongside Cooper Cronk) was crowned joint Dally M medallist for the 2016 NRL season.
Taumalolo became the first forward to wear the medal since Storm skipper Cameron Smith achieved the feat in 2006.
While Kangaroos winger Valentine Holmes is set to benefit from Ben Barba's absence after being sacked by the Sharks with first crack at the vacant Sharks fullback spot next season.
