Is Central Coast Airport Runway Too Long?

Council says no way....fights fine

Central Coast Council has confirmed it's received a Penalty Infringement Notice from the Department of Planning for what it calls the alleged minor clearing of vegetation at the then Warnervale Airport in 2012.

The work was done under the former Wyong Shire Council when the airport was managed and operated by Central Coast Aero Club.

The Department has also alleged an unlawful 226 metre extension to the current runway last year to 1196 metres.

Council has informed the Department, historically, the runway has been about 1200m.

It insists the sealing of the previously unsealed but engineered sections of the runway does not amount to an extension.

Council rejects both allegations and has written to the Department asking them to provide the evidence behind the decision.
