Netball Victoria announced the 10 clubs who were successful in receiving licenses to play in the Bupa Victorian Netball League (VNL), with Bendigo missing out.
Bendigo submitted their bid to receive their own license, but didn't make it through the independent selection panel and Netball Victoria's General Manager - High Performance.
The application process was re-framed to focus on the ability to help athletes, coaches and club personnel. This is in addition to driving sustainability, good governance practices and on court performance.
The clubs successful in holding a license for the 2019-2023 competitions are:
- Boroondara Express
- City West Falcons
- Casey Demons (new in 2019)
- DC North East Blaze
- Geelong Cougars
- Hawks Netball
- Melbourne University Lightning
- Peninsula Waves
- Wilson Storage Southern Saints
- Ariels VCNA
Netball Victoria says they are committed to developing regional hubs across the state in key locations. These regional centres will support associations, leagues, clubs and local communities.
