A new classroom, exhibition area and outdoor dining space are on the way for Terrigal's Marine Discovery Centre as it’s set to undertake a $1.5 million upgrade.
The 30-year-old hub’s secured state cash for the massive renovation under the Regional Growth Environment and Tourism Fund, which will help it secure Eco Tourism accreditation.
It’s expected to boost visitation to 25,000 people per year, where 6,000 students currently head through the doors.
Modern air conditioning, sewerage and fresh carpet will also bring the facility up to scratch.
While some of the money will be put towards developing a live video stream of the former HMAS Adelaide shipwreck near the Skillion, which is hoped to bring more people to the popular diving spot.
