Government announces Mann St developer

The state government has announced property and construction group, St Hilliers, had been chosen to develop the former site of Gosford Public school.

The 1.1 hectare site at the bottom of Mann street has been earmarked for a new 7,000 metre-squared mixed-use commercial building since before the last election, when the Liberals committed to relocate 300 government jobs to Gosford.

Leon Walker, Executive Director of Major Projects at Property NSW, says the development is expected to create 90 construction jobs and inject an additional $1.4 million in retail expenditure to the CBD.

"The government ran a competitive tender process for the project and St.Hillers were selected... they're a company with over 20 years of development experience successfully having delivered projects across the country," said Mr Walker explaining the decision this morning.

"The 300 roles will be relocating from the Sydney metropolitan area, and they'll be filled by a mixed of relocation and local appointments."

"(Similarly) the government's intention is that a significant contribution made by local construction industry," Mr Walker said, in reference to the predicted 90 construction jobs developing the site will create.
