Long Jetty Roadworks From This Weekend

Traffic flow and pedestrian safety improvement work will start this Sunday on The Entrance Road (Central Coast Highway) at Long Jetty.

A Roads and Maritime Services spokesperson said following investigations and traffic studies, the NSW Government has allocated $2 million to carry out work on this improvement project.

"This project will improve pedestrian safety for the local community when crossing this busy highway and improve traffic flow for motorists travelling through the Central Coast,” the spokesperson said.

“Work will involve improving existing traffic signalled pedestrian crossings, pram ramps and line marking between Stella and Elsiemer streets and between Anzac and Archbold roads.

“A traffic monitoring camera will also be installed at the Swadling Street intersection to monitor and adjust traffic light phasing to help improve traffic flow for northbound traffic.”

Work will start on Sunday 17 June and is expected to be completed by mid-July, weather permitting. To minimise traffic disruptions, work hours will be between 7pm and 5am from Sunday to Thursday.

For the safety of motorists and workers, lane closures, traffic control and a reduced speed limit of 40 km/h will be in place during work hours.

Motorists are advised to drive to the conditions and follow the direction of signs and traffic control.

The spokesperson said remaining improvement work to ease traffic congestion which was identified at several locations during the investigation and design stage will be completed by mid-2019.

Roads and Maritime Services thanks motorists for their patience during while work is carried out.
