Man charged after stealing Gosford hospital patient's phone

A 26 year old Umina Beach man will face Gosford Local Court on August 8th, after allegedly robbing an inpatient at Gosford Hospital and a bus driver of the mobile phones.

In a statement, Brisbane Water Police say the incidents took place between 1:30 and 3pm last Friday.

"Police allege the man entered a room and stole a mobile phone which belonged to a patient," the Command says.

"Hospital Staff were alerted to the man's behaviour and saw him a short time later enter a nearby bus.  Whilst on the bus it is alleged he stole a mobile phone that was being used by the driver."

The man was arrested a short time later and charged with Steal from Person and Larceny.

It was a busy weekend all round for Brisbane Water Police, who also had to deal with a spate of thefts from vehicles.

No less than five were broken into at Lisarow train station between 7am and 9:30pm on Friday, while the following night four cars had their registration plates stolen across Wamberal.
