Officers injured in accident at Patonga

The Crash Investigation Unit continues to investigate the collision involving Brisbane Water LAC police officers, while the LAC is investigating the vehicle fire.

Police have just released a statement, saying it appears there was no one inside the extinguished car involved in the initial incident.

It appears the two senior constables are alright - Gosford Hospital has confirmed this 40 year old male officer has been discharged and the 27 year old female will be shortly.

Meanwhile, the 21 year old driver of the car that hit the patrol vehicle has been taken to Mandatory testing.

EARLIER: Two senior constables have been hit by a car, while responding to an incident in Patonga overnight.

Police media says shortly before 8.30 officers from Brisbane Water LAC were responding to a Car Fire just off Patonga Road when their patrol car was struck by a third vehicle.

NSW Ambulance Paramedics treated the 40 year old male driver and 27 year old female passenger at the scene, with both taken to Gosford Hospital in stable conditions.

A 21 year old man travelling in the third vehicle was uninjured, and the fire of the original car was extinguished.

Both incidents are being investigated, with police expected to release further details later this morning.
