UPDATE: Two teenage boys have now been charged, with one to face court today, after allegedly punching a man in Woy Woy earlier this week.
Police will allege a 36-year-old man was approached by a group of four teenagers at a railway station in Woy Woy, just before 6pm on Tuesday 28 November 2017.
As the group approached the man, a 14-year-old boy allegedly began to throw punches, hitting the man several times.
The man attempted to walk away when he was struck in the side of the head by a 15-year-old boy, causing him to fall onto the gutter of the footpath. The group of teenagers fled the scene.
Emergency services were contacted and the man was taken to Gosford Hospital, where he is expected to undergo surgery.
Following investigations, Brisbane Water Police arrested and charged two boys aged 14 and 15.
The 14-year-old boy was charged with assault occasioning grievous bodily harm and affray.
He was refused bail and is due to appear at a Children’s Court today.
The 15-year-old boy was charged with common assault and affray.
He was granted conditional bail and is due to appear at a Children’s Court on Friday 22 December 2017.
WEDNESDAY: A man is recovering from fractures to his face in Gosford Hospital this morning, after four men reportedly attacked him near Woy Woy train station overnight
Brisbane Water officers say the 36 year old victim was walking towards the crossing on Railway Street just before 5:50 pm, when an argument and then scuffle broke out between him and the group.
He was reportedly punched in the head several times in the incident.
Officers investigating are reviewing CCTV footage, and are also looking to speak to witnesses. Call 4323 5599 if you can help out.
