US Retail giant Amazon has launched its Australian website – but Australian shoppers have so far been underwhelmed.

The website launched overnight offering Australian shoppers a range of products from books to computers to kitchen wares and baby products.

There’s also free shipping for orders over $49 and a one-day delivery service available in some areas.

Amazon Australia's country manager, Rocco Braeuniger, said Amazon would be offering "millions" of products from well-known Australian brands.

"By concentrating on providing a great shopping experience and by constantly innovating on behalf of customers, we hope to earn the trust and the custom of Australian shoppers in the years to come," Mr Braeuniger said in a statement to the ABC.

However, many shoppers believe the one stop online shop hasn’t lived up to the hype.

Many products are still cheaper in Aussie retailers.

For example, a bottle of Dettol, Soft on Skin, hand wash is $2.89 on Amazon and just $2 at Woolworths. While, an Amazon basics USB C charger costs $11.99, while a similar version is $8 at Kmart.

Other products are better value with a copy of Fifa 18 costing $39, compared to $57 on sale at EB Games.

There's also reports many items have gone out of stock before people are able to purchase them.
