Australia Day Plane Crash Pilot Identified

The man killed in a plane crash on Perth's Swan River has been identified as a former Brisbane man.

52 year old Peter Lynch was killed when the plane he was flying appeared to stall, nose dive and tear into pieces on impact in front of a crowd of up to 300,000 people who had gathered ahead of the city's Australia Day fireworks display.

Western Australian police say the woman killed alongside Lynch was his 30 year old partner Endah Cakrawati.

Lynch was a big part of developing the airpark at the Evans Head aerodrome. He was also heavily involved in the Evans Head Memorial Aerodrome and Aviation Association.

A mate from the Association has described Lynch as a passionate man of 'incredible vision', who will be sorely missed.

Police spent the night guarding the Grumman G-73 “Mallard” plane in the Swan River.
