Eight Family Members Arrested Regarding Child Sexual Abuse Allegations

Police have arrested eight family members across three states following a six-year investigation into historic and ongoing child abuse in New South Wales.

The alleged offenders include:

  • Griffith, NSW: A 45-year-old man charged with six counts of sexual intercourse with a child under 10; four counts of indecent assault; sexual intercourse with a child aged between 10-14; aggravated act of indecency; common assault. He will appear in court later today.
  • Griffith, NSW: A 38-year-old woman charged with perjury. She will appear in court later today.
  • Riverland, SA: A 29-year-old man charged with with a NSW arrest warrant for counts of incest with a person under the age of 16. Will appear in court today, with detectives applying for extradition to NSW.
  • Riverland, SA: Two women (50 and 34) charged with a NSW arrest warrant for perjury. Will appear in court today, with detectives applying for extradition to NSW.
  • Northam, WA: A 36-year-old man charged with four counts of sexual intercourse with a child under 10; two counts of indecent assault and having sexual intercourse with a child aged between 10-14. Will appear in court today, with detectives applying for extradition to NSW.
  • Northam, WA: A 48-year-old man was charged with a NSW arrest warrant for counts of sexual intercourse with a child under 10. Will appear in court today, with detectives applying for extradition to NSW.
  • Northam, WA: A 51-year-old woman was charged with a NSW arrest warrant for perjury. Will appear in court today, with detectives applying for extradition to NSW.

The investigation stems from the 2012 establishment of Strike Force Hermoyne regarding allegations of incest, child sexual assault and serious neglect of children. 

This squad involves detectives from the State Crime Command's Child Abuse and Sex Crimes Squad, who are specially trained in these areas.
