Can you ditch your crap pressies?

Aussies are a pretty stingy bunch when it comes to Christmas presents.

Almost a third of us are planning on doing the dodgy regift this year, especially with bath and beauty products and homewares.

5 per cent of us admit to regifting tech items like old iPads.

It's not too much of a surprise, seeing as a survey of Triple M listeners found 1 in 4 received an unwanted gift last year.

But when, and to whom, is it actually appropriate to regift?

If you don't want to be branded a cheapskate the rest of your life, here's some tips to get you going.

1. Keep regifting OUTSIDE the family and best friends circle.

Remember who gave you the gift in the first place. The last thing you want on Christmas day is your relative saying "Hey..didn't I give you this last year?"

2. Don't regift a dud.

If you are going to regift, at least do it with something you think the person will appreciate. If YOU hated it, chances are your friends will too.

3. Reusing gift bags? Get rid of the tags.

We don't think 'Sally' will be happy when she realises that soap set has your name on it. And it's been dusting up in your cupboard since 2014.

4. Re-wrap gifts using a gift basket.

It looks like you put way more effort in than you did. #winning
