Tasmanian police have charged a man following allegations that he headbutted former prime minister Tony Abbott yesterday in Hobart.
A 38-year-old man from North Hobat has been charged with common assault and granted conditional bail.
He will appear at Hobart Magistrates Court on October 23.
Tasmania Police released the following statement:
A 38 year old North Hobart man has been charged following an alleged incident on Hobart’s waterfront yesterday afternoon. The man was charged with one count of Common Assault following a police investigation into a complaint made by Tony Abbott MP. The man was granted conditional bail to appear in the Hobart Magistrates Court at 9.30am on 23 October. Tasmania Police will make no further comment in relation to the matter.
