Highly touted Vic-Metro midfielder Cam Rayner has been taken with selection No.1 by the Brisbane Lions in the National AFL draft tonight in Sydney.
Rayner was anticipated to be taken with the first pick but the Lions had not told the 18 year-old prior to tonight's draft.
The big-bodied midfielder has been compared to Richmond superstar Dustin Martin at the same age by many scouts and draft experts.
Rayner was a stand out of Vic-Metro during the National Under 18 Championships earlier this year, averaging 19 disposals and 3 goals from 4 games against the best junior talent around the country.
The draft is being held at the Sydney Showgrounds tonight.
