Cameron Smith Reveals He Asked The Storm For A Two-Year Deal But Would've Been Happy If He Was Rejected AAP

Cameron Smith's future has finally been decided with the two-time Premiership winner re-signing with the club.

Surprisingly, Smith has signed on for at least the next two-seasons, something which Smith personally asked the club for.

This was seen as the reason why the Storm and Smith were at a stalemate but the 35-year-old told reporters on Thursday the club needed no convincing to agree to the deal.

Interestingly Smith also seemed to hint at the possibility of relinquishing the captaincy of the club.

"We've got a great leadership group in place at the moment," Smith told reporters.

"Dale Finucane, Jesse Bromwich, Will Chambers who have been around the club for a long time, know how we operate and what's expected of leaders in our club.

"I get a lot of help from those guys but I don't know you might have just planted a seed there."

Smith's new contract will see him become the first person ever to play 400-NRL games.
